MAKEUP REVOLUTION SHIMMER BRICK IN ROSE GOLD REVIEW

MAKEUP REVOLUTION SHIMMER BRICK IN ROSE GOLD

Hello beauties,

Welcome back to my blog.

Today my review is on a highlighter from Makeup revolution in shade Rose gold.

This is a very new addition to my makeup kit. I just realised the importance of highlighter only recently and ordered this from Nykaa. Till then whenever I see photos of fully dolled up models and brides I felt that the glow is really from within and I never ever felt that it is the magic of highlighter – off course they glow from inside but highlighter highlights their glow I feel. When I started following all the MUAs closely I thought let me try highlighting so purchased this.

Ingredients as per their website: Mica, Dimethicone, Nylon 12, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Propyl paraben, Methyl paraben
May Contain; (+/-) TITANIUM DIOXIDE, CI 77491, CI 15850, CI 77499.

Company Claims: Combining the warmth from a bronzer with highlighters to give gorgeous definition to all skin tones. Either use each shade from the shimmer brick on its own, or swirl your brush round to pick up all the colours.

Shade: 2 shades – one is light in shade and named as Radiant and the darker shade is Rose Gold.

Price: Rs. 510/- INR.

Availability: These are easily available in online stores and makeup revolution counters.

My Thoughts: My first impression on this brick was why this highlighter is brown in color. Because I was expecting rosy or golden color but when I read the company claim – they have mentioned that it can be doubled as bronzer as well. I just used it once and I was shocked because –I was thinking that I do not have any open pores on my face but that was the only thing I noticed after highlighting my cheek bone, big pores. I was really aghast. Later I learnt that, highlight is supposed to highlight everything and also I did not know the full technique of applying the same. So next time I prepped my face well and after all the base makeup I swiped the highlighter on the highest points of my face and literally I was glowing. But I feel the sparkly junks are bit big it wasn’t fine, also the highlighter was all over my face after some time and that disappointed me.  After couple of failed attempts to use it as highlighter I use it as eye shadow glitter and it works perfectly fine.
Swatches in artificial light

Overall I feel this is an average product.

How I Use: After my base makeup – I just swirled fan brush on this shimmer brick and pick up shade and applied on the high points on my cheeks and above my eye brows.

Pros:

  • Vegan.
  • Cruelty Free.
  • Gluten Free. (I am not very particular of any product being gluten free because for me that doesn’t make any difference)
  • Decent product but if used even a lit bit more then the shimmer lands up all over your face.
  • Affordable.
Cons:
  • Just 2 shades.
  • Lot of shimmers fallout.
  • Contains parabens.
  • The shimmer particles are not that fine. I feel it doesn’t blend well with the skin. I expect a satin kind of the highlight which blends well with the skin and looks like we are going from inside. But I feel this things stands separate – it doesn’t blend well mainly because of bigger shimmer particles.
Will I repurchase again: No.
